Vtg Retro 1950s Commercial Store Atomic Space Sputnik Hanging Lights, Set, HUGE! Huge set of commercial grade welded steel sputnik 1950s hanging store lights. These are gigantic and heavy. Extremely rare find to say the least. These had been refurbished for commercial use in a restuarant/bar so they are in very nice condition yet with new wiring & sockets throughout both lights, 4 foot hanging chains were replaced along with new clasps for hanging.

The paint looks great, has some chips on the tips of the points mainly from use and storage. Overall these are in magnificent condition ready for hanging and immediate use.

The design is for hanging with 4 foot chains and they plugged in on a ceiling plug in standard type recepticals. Extremely easy to use however can be altered for your specific application. These are huge and heavy! These were made from steel plates artisan welded.

These are of a very brutalist construction. The welding must have taken an eternity for the builder to have done. The seams are coarse ungrinded and not machined perfect, left that way purposely for the brutalist effect we believe and they look fabulouslook!

We were told these were made in the circa mid 1950s and believed to have been a sign maker most likely built to a specific order. These were not a mass production light by anymeans, there is a very brutalist effect to the welding, built ground up by hand As a matched set. These will look unbelievably impressive in your store or any application you choose. The lights are massive so I had a hard time capturing the sheer magnitude and presence in photos.

We took photos in many different settings and used two different styled bulbs to give an idea of how just the bulbs alone can change the atomic appearance. I think long tubular bulbs would look great as well. The light's hold 9 candelabra sized bulbs each. The lights measure approximately 3' feet in circumference and 2' feet in height, and the hanging chains are 4' feet with 6' plug in cords. Talk with your builder if you are unsure with installation, these are heavy and should have an attatched safety catch as well as to insure your mounting location is suitable for a heavy chandelier, these are not your normal residential home size lighting, however would look awsome in a classic car Den/Garage or the ultimate Man Cave.
