RARE Signed Vintage 60s USS Enterprise Star Trek Hanging Light Lamp Fixture 3L
Signed Vintage 60s USS Enterprise Star Trek Hanging Light. One of only 500 made. Height of main stem 16.
Top 2 engine housings 5-6 long. Some oxidation on chrome- see pics. Some chipping to enamel paint- see pics. Brass nuts and washers w oxidation.
Put out in the late 60's by a company called Prestigeline Incorporated (labels intact). They only made 500 of these beauties. Has an unverified signature that appears to be by Gene Roddenberry! Looks like his pen slipped on the curve during signing. I've only seen a few pictures of these growing up, but this is the first time I've come across one in person.
Some collectors consider this to be one of the Holy Grails of Star Trek collecting and it's a great example of Mid Century Modern Verner Panton Era lighting! It's in good shape considering its age, but is by no means in perfect shape. All 3 light sockets are clean with standard based sockets. It also comes with it's hanging chain but you might want to change out to a better shinier chrome chain.
If this were mine, I would spray the signature with a fixative to be sure it doesn't rub off. I have no idea as to the marker or ink used. Currently wired as a swag but easily could be hardwired. Let me know if you need a canopy for the ceiling and I'll see if I have one.When you receive the item, it could be a little loose. You can tighten the parts up using small wrenches, but this can be a little tricky. Currently, it's tight, but may loosen up during transit. You can use standard 60 watt bulbs or colored bulbs.
