It was designed by French-Algerian industrial designer, Max Sauze, for his eponymous French studio in the late 1960s. Each lamp was handmade, weaving strips of polished and lacquered copper on a simple metal frame to create a complex spiralling form that reflects and diffuses the light within.
The small lamp works best hung around eye-level over a dining table or work-surface, but looks great as an accent lamp hung higher. The best spread of light is best achieved with a mirror-tipped crown silver bulb (widely available from bulb retailers - even in eco-friendly LED). The lamp accepts an E27 Edison Screw bulb, and has been rewired with a length of new Italian-made vintage-style braided flex in a subtle off-white.
