A COUPLE WHO LIVES IN AND HAS RESTORED AN OLD RAILROAD STATION HAS EXPRESSED AN INTEREST IN THIS PIECE BECAUSE IT WILL JUST FIT INTO THE PERIOD. THIS IS A MAGNIFICENT UNPRECEDENTED RARE AND/OR ONE OF A KIND HEIRLOOM FROM THE 1800's. LAMP WOULD BE BEAUTIFUL HANGING IN A MANSION OR CASTLE WITH VERY HIGH CEILINGS LIKE IT WAS UNTIL 1992 IN ITS THREE STORY MANSION WITH A BALLROOM AND MARBLE FIRPLACES THROUGHOUT. IT ALWAYS HUNG IN THE 14 SEATING DINING ROOM UNTIL IT WAS GIFTED TO ME FROM THE ESTATE AND THEN HUNG IN A MORE MODERN STYLE HOME.
LAMP IS IN WORKING CONDITION. IT ONCE HAD FRINGE AROUND ENTIRE BOTTOM EDGE WHEN IT WAS LIT BY GAS. MAY BE BRADLEY & HUBBARD. LAMP WAS CONVERTED TO ELEC FROM GAS IN THE EARLY 1900's WHEN ELEC BECAME AVAILABLE IN THE TOWN IT CALLED HOME. CAP ON CEILING IS 13inches LONG TO WHERE CHAIN IS LINKED ON. CHAIN IS DOUBLED OVER AND TOTAL LENGTH IS APPROX 4-1/2 FEET LONG WHEN EXTENDED. CHAIN HAS CLOSED LINKS AND CANNOT BE REMOVED. MEASUREMENT FROM TOP OF LAMP WHERE CHAIN IS LINKED ON, AND MEASURED TO BOTTOM OF LAMP, IS APPROX 20 inches. WIDTH OF BOTTOM FROM SIDE TO SIDE AT WIDEST POINT IS APPROX. CHAIN LINKS ARE SOLID AND 3inches LONG, AND 2inches WIDE. THE METAL OF THE LINKS ARE 1/2inch THICK. ENTIRE LAMP AND CHAIN IS APPROX. THE FIXTURE INSIDE HOLDS 6 LIGHT BULBS.APPROX 80 GLASS PANELS IN ENTIRE LAMP. 2 GLASS PANELS HAVE A CRACK BUT NO GLASS PANELS ARE MISSING.
