Hanging Marked Bradley & Hubbard Iron Harp Lamp, Original, Excellent Condition
This is a nice "iron harp" hanging lamp made by Bradley & Hubbard and so marked. See description and photos for details. Hanging Marked Bradley & Hubbard Iron Harp Lamp, Original, Excellent Condition. HANGING "IRON HARP" KEROSENE LAMP. FRAME, CANOPY, FONT, BURNER, CHIMNEY, & SHADE. THIS IS A GUARANTEED GENUINE ANTIQUE HANGING "IRON HARP" KEROSENE OR OIL LAMP! It is in top-notch condition, no condition issues other than a slight blister or depressed area (oval, about 1 X 2 inches) on the shade, and this occurred in manufacturing. I tried to photograph it, but it barely shows in the photos. The surfaces look to me like original paint with no rust.

The counterweight is plainly marked with a patent date of 1880, and the shade holder is marked "BRADLEY & HUBBARD" as well as a similar patent date. The font is frosted glass in a star or star-burst pattern. The collar on the lamp is a bit unusual; rather than the normal early common collar with a cone-shaped top, it is larger and squared off.

It has two patent dates of the same era as the others. The burner is a brass #2 Eagle made by P&A (Plume & Atwood). The chimney has a beaded top. As presently configured, it hangs about 43 inches from the top of the canopy, but the chains could be shortened for use in a house with a lower ceiling.

The only thing not original is the eye-bolt for attaching to a ceiling hook, as that was missing when I got it. Box #1 will be glass components, and will be 16 X 16 X 16 inches, weighing 17 pounds. Feel free to contact me for.

I'm not smart enough to tell anyone what will and won't appreciate in value, but I do know that. A thing of beauty is a joy forever. OK, not literally forever, because none of us will be around on earth that long, so we should store up treasure in heaven (Matthew 6: 19-20). But while doing that, consider what things of beauty we can afford to have around in the here and now, things that we can be stewards of for a time, and then have the joy of passing on to someone else.
