Antique/Vtg Medieval Spanish Tudor GIGANTIC! Hanging Swag Light/Lamp, Gothic 28. Here is a very rare Gigantic surviving swag light from the spanish revival era.
This unbelievable light is mammoth in size and in fantasic condition for the age. The light is made of wrought steel, carved wood , and adorned with with an unbelievable textured and colored large glass panels. I can only describe the glass as, it looks like melting fire. There are spunn spindles attatched to the corners with nailed metal bands securing them.
The wood is carved, distressed and looks straight out of a castle. The original heavy link chain is black with some slight patina throughout. Cord looks in great original condition.
The bulb socket has been replaced new for safe operation. There is one glass holding tab missing on the inside, glass panel stays securely in place regardless but wanted to mention for description accuracy.No major damage of anykind. Original glass panels are in great condition with no cracks/breaks.
The black top metal cap and wrought bands have paint aging, ware and fading in spots. The light is vintage, there are imperfections but at the same token, in some ways it was made that way as well. Please keep in mind an original piece like this isnt flawless. Any restoration decision's would be up to the new owners discretion, but I personally feel its perfect as it is ready to hang and light up immediately after opening. Measures 28 inches tall x 15 1/2 inches in diameter.
The swagging chain is approximately 12' foot. Trying to describe the sheer magnificence of this behemoth is impossible.
